Bill Appleby, Managing Director
Bill is the Founder and Managing Director of Alderbrook Finance.
He has over 25 years of experience in project finance, having worked both for developers and financial institutions, including Citigroup where has acted as Head of Project & Infrastructure Finance prior to setting up Alderbrook Finance.
He is regarded as a leading figure in the MENA utilities sector having advised governments and/or developers in respect of major projects in every key market in the region.
Bill is also a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a First Class degree in mathematics from Oxford University.

John Gallagher, Executive Director
John has over 25 years of experience within the global energy and infrastructure sectors and has been involved with over US$25 billion of transactions across the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
Prior to joining Alderbrook Finance following its formation in 2013, John worked for both developers and financial institutions internationally including Gallagher Funds Management (2005-2012), Macquarie Bank (2003-2005), Mirant Corporation (1998-2002), and ANZ Investment Bank (1994-1998). At Alderbrook John has been a senior team member involved in several high-profile projects such as the PV2 IPP, Fujairah F3 IPP, Taweelah RO IWP, Rabigh3 IWP and Sweihan Solar PV IPP.
John holds a Master of Commerce (Finance) and a Masters of Property and Construction from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from La Trobe University.

Pranav Kotwal, Executive Director
Pranav is an energy and infrastructure professional with advisory and principal investing experience.
Prior to joining Alderbrook Finance in 2020, he was a Vice President at EIG Global Energy Partners based in London. EIG invests across upstream, midstream, conventional power, and renewables. Pranav was responsible for strategies covering private equity, mezzanine, and high yield credit. He executed investments exceeding US$750 million and managed a portfolio totalling US$600 million. Prior to that, Pranav was an Associate in Citigroup’s Project and Infrastructure Finance team in London covering utilities, transportation and social infrastructure.
Pranav holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Babson College with concentrations in Finance and Economics.

Grant Thomas, Executive Director
Grant has over 25 years of experience in global energy and infrastructure. He has held various senior positions in investment banking, corporate and engineering firms.
Grant’s significant corporate finance and advisory experience includes roles in mergers & acquisitions, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, and project financing across conventional power, renewables, water, and oil & gas in MENA as well as globally. Prior to joining Alderbrook Finance in 2019, he held roles as the Head of Resources and Energy for MENA at HSBC, Head of Energy at CBD MENA, Director Energy and Infrastructure at Societe Generale Australia as well as a developer and Head of Finance and Treasury Asia Pacific for Duke Energy and an electrical and control systems engineer for Pacific Power (formerly the Electricity Commission of New South Wales).
Grant holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical), a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Applied Finance.

Lee Ebner, Executive Director
Lee has over 17 years of experience in the Project Finance sector having worked on both the developer and lender side across a diverse range of projects in the EMEA region and beyond.
Prior to joining Alderbrook Finance, Lee was the Global Head of Structured and Project Finance for Jinko Power’s International IPP business. During her tenor at JKP Lee led the financing activities for, which was at the time, the world’s two largest single site PV projects. Prior to that Lee was a Principle in Barclays Africa’s Resources and Project Finance team where she originated and lead project finance transactions for greenfield and brownfield projects across various sectors including the resources, oil and gas, infrastructure, telecoms and energy sectors throughout Africa.
Lee is a qualified Chartered Accountant, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Post Graduate Diploma in Accounts from the University of Cape Town.

Lucian Stone, Executive Director
Lucian has over 11 years of experience in project finance debt advisory, where he has led large-scale financings and supported bidders in competitive tenders across most infrastructure sectors.
Prior to joining Alderbrook in 2024, Lucian led the debt advisory team at Akereos Capital, a boutique energy transition advisory firm, and prior to that, was a Director in the power and infrastructure advisory team at SMBC. He started his career at Operis, a specialist financial modelling firm.
Lucian holds a MSc in Finance and a BSc in Mathematics, both from the University of Reading.

Maxime Smati, Associate
Maxime has 4 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure sector covering M&A and project finance roles.
Prior to joining Alderbrook Finance in 2022, Maxime was an Assistant Vice President at SMBC. He worked on numerous high-profile transactions including acting as financial and lead adviser to the Saudi Ministry of Energy and the Saudi Water and Power Company. Maxime also worked as an Analyst for Société Générale CIB within the Energy Team based in Houston, Texas, where he covered advisory mandates (project finance, corporate finance, and M&A), debt arranging, and private capital raising across upstream, midstream, and conventional power sectors. In particular, he worked on the US$2 billion deepwater Shenendoah FPSO and field development.
Maxime also has prior experience in the European PPP sector and in French renewables and telecom projects.
Maxime holds a Master of Science in Project and Structured Finance from Paris X University and Ecole Nationale Des Ponts ParisTech, France.

Amaury Cassang, Associate
Amaury has over five years of experience in infrastructure, mostly in the MENA region as a financial adviser.
Prior to joining Alderbrook in 2024, Amaury focused on project finance transactions in the renewables, utilities and social infrastructure sectors.
Amaury holds a MSc in Economics from ISCTE-IUL, a Master in Management from SWUFE, and a BSc in Social Science and Business Administration from the University Paul Valery.

Jake Hughes, Analyst
Prior to joining Alderbrook Finance in 2022, Jake held roles as an Underwriting Analyst in the insurance sector and as a Corporate Finance Associate at Grant Thornton where he supported sell-side advisory mandates for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Jake holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Coventry University.

Francisco Nunes, Analyst
Prior to joining Alderbrook in 2024, Francisco worked in the Energy, Utilities & Infrastructure M&A team at Raiffeisen Bank International, based in Vienna, Austria, where he supported two sell-side advisory mandates for large European renewable energy developers.
Prior to that Francisco worked in the infrastructure investment team at Suma Capital, based in Barcelona, Spain, where he was involved in the origination and execution of onshore wind and waste-to-biomethane projects in Iberia.
Francisco holds a MSc in International Finance from HEC Paris, and a BSc in Management from Nova School of Business and Economics.

Di Feng, Analyst
Prior to joining Alderbrook in 2024, Di worked in the Corporate M&A team of French insurer AXA and in the leveraged loans team at BNP Paribas Asset Management, both in Paris.
Prior to that, Di worked as a consultant for State Grid in Beijing where she contributed to project management and cash flow forecasting.
Di holds a MSc in Management from ESSEC Business School and a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University.
